Do these people even know what revenue means? Revenue is not determined if it comes from local or non local means. It’s how much money the event generates. However Soldier Field 2.0 will still be owned by the park district. So if a government entity owns it, then have the government pay for part of it. Unfortunately too many people don’t understand how Hotel/Motel taxes work, and think they are the ones being taxed. Hotel/Motel tax is a tax levied by the state and city to Hotels/Motels that can only be used on projects that will improve economic development in the city (40% of the tax revenue). Or the Sports Facilities Fund (60% of the tax revenue). Best part since most people staying at hotels/motels are not locals. It is an outside revenue tax source. So the state has a revenue source that is paid by non locals that is designed to fund projects such as this. Yet the government are making such a big deal out of this because of why? Maybe the government wants to take your focus away from the whole immigration, and crime issues plaguing our area.
